Have you ever had one of those life changing moments? This happened to me while visiting Young Living’s Academy in November 2015. When we pulled up on the buses there were hundreds of children lined up by grade. As we approached the children, they were gracious and happy to see us. I had the pleasure of seeing the little girl I sponsor, Keyla again. (I went to the Academy in 2014 too.)
She instantly recognized me and gave me a huge hug! It literally took my breathe away. Then I gave her a light up girlie back pack filled with school supplies and games. She was so excited and kept saying, “Thank You!” My sister and I handed out little bags to 10 other children too. We looked for children that did not receive any gifts yet or maybe their sponsor was not visiting on this trip. The smiles on each child’s face was priceless!
Then the children put on a show for us on their new stage. They played instruments and danced to Ecuadorian music. They wore costumes and made all that attended happy.
It was really amazing to see all the new work that was done at the Academy since my last trip a year ago. An entire high school was built! Plus more elementary classrooms and a music room. The outdoor stage/auditorium was also brand new. This was all made possible because of the donations people around the world have made to the Young Living Foundation. A 100% of the donations go directly to this amazing school. The children are given an incredible education, plus 1 hot meal each day. They have a very high attendance rate because the kids WANT to go to school. The children have their own garden at school and take frequent field trips to the farm. They learn how to live off the land. Currently, Young Living Academy has 250 students. They are hoping to enroll another 50 children next semester.
Together we can create a safe place for these under privileged kids to learn and grow. To contribute to the Young Living Foundation, visit https://www.dgaryyoungfoundation.org/
